Most of my work is about distortion and concealment. Lots of my work features portraiture of myself and my friends. I am interested in people and what their lives are like, which is why most of my work is about individuals. I distort them because I believe we all have a very distorted view on someone before we get to know them, and you can't really know someone from one photograph. As well as this, I find it interesting to edit the "real" image/person in front of me using a camera, filters and editing. Rather than attempting to capture a reality of something, my photography could be seen as a reflection of my perception of the world around me.
I enjoy experimenting with different techniques on Photoshop to elevate the photos I take and add my own perspective to this reality. I also use objects like glass cups and mirrors to distort the imagery in front of the camera. |
